Egypt's annual inflation rate slowed to 11.2 per cent in August 2025, down from 13.1 per cent in July, according to latest data from the country's official statistics agency CAPMAS on Wednesday. The monthly inflation rate rose by 0.2 per cent as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the whole country reached 257.1 points, CAPMAS added. The monthly increase was driven by higher prices for vegetables at 3.8 per cent, dairy, cheese, and eggs at 0.8 per cent, household appliances at 1.4 per cent, tobacco at 1.0 per cent, and housing rent at 0.9 per cent. These rises came despite declines in meat and poultry by 1.3 per cent, fish and seafood by 0.5 per cent, fruit by 0.5 per cent, sugar and confectionery by 0.4 per cent, transport services by 0.8 per cent, and organised tourist trips by 9.2 per cent. On an annual basis, strongest increases were seen in electricity, gas, and other fuels at 43.0 per cent, fruit at 42.7 per cent, healthcare at 34.2 per cent, transport at 21.4 per cent.
