Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty has met International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi on the sidelines of the Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia. The talks addressed Egypt's efforts with international partners to ease tensions in the region and prepare conditions for resuming negotiations between Iran and the United States over Tehran's nuclear programme. The discussions followed the start of implementing UN sanctions mechanisms through the Security Council. Abdel-Aty highlighted Egypt's ongoing contacts aimed at creating an environment that supports diplomacy and dialogue to reach a sustainable settlement that considers all parties' interests and promotes regional security. The meeting also covered bilateral cooperation between Egypt and the IAEA. Abdel-Aty pointed to Egypt's expansion in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy to support development, especially through the Dabaa nuclear power plant project. He underlined Cairo's commitment to strengthen cooperation with the agency and benefit from its technical expertise to ensure the highest international safety and security standards.
