Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty stressed to his Iranian counterpart the importance of adhering to diplomatic paths and creating conditions for resuming cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In a phone call on Tuesday evening, Abdel-Aty told his Iranian counterpart that this would help build mutual trust and foster a conducive climate for regional security and stability. In a separate phone call with IAEA Director General, Abdel-Aty discussed developments in Iran's nuclear file. He listened to the Director General's assessment of the recent visit to Tehran by the agency's Deputy Director General and ways to restore trust and resume cooperation between the agency and Iran. They also discussed supporting cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy between the agency and regional countries, in a way that reinforces the agency's role in safeguarding regional and international security and stability.
