Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty met Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob on Monday on the sidelines of the Bled Strategic Forum. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanging views on issues of common concern. Abdel-Aty underlined Egypt's commitment to developing relations with Slovenia and activating joint cooperation mechanisms that reflect the depth of political ties. He stressed the importance of boosting economic and investment partnership to serve mutual interests. The meeting touched on opportunities in energy, transport, ports, and labour. Abdel-Aty urged Slovenia to expand its investments in Egypt, noting the country's role as a key gateway to Africa. The two sides also discussed stepping up political consultations in light of Slovenia's non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Abdel-Aty praised Slovenia's constructive role within the EU in supporting partnership with Egypt. On regional developments, Abdel-Aty reviewed the situation in Gaza, reaffirming Egypt's efforts to reach a ceasefire and ensure safe humanitarian access. He welcomed Slovenia's balanced stance and its recognition of the State of Palestine last year. The minister stressed the responsibility of the international community, especially the EU, in addressing what he called Israel's grave violations against civilians. He called for real pressure on Israel to halt escalation and immediately end the use of starvation as a weapon, pointing to existing European mechanisms that could be activated.
