Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty met Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Monday on the sidelines of the emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah. The two ministers praised the growing momentum in Egypt-Saudi relations, especially following President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's visit to the kingdom and his meeting with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on August 21. They stressed the importance of building on the visit's outcomes to strengthen the strategic partnership and support regional stability amid current challenges. Both ministers expressed their aspiration to activate the Supreme Coordination Council between the two countries at the earliest opportunity, aiming for a qualitative leap in cooperation across various sectors. Talks also covered the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. The ministers reaffirmed their rejection of Israel's ongoing assault on Gaza and its policy of starvation and killing of civilians, describing them as flagrant violations of international law and international humanitarian law. Abdel-Aty reviewed Egypt's efforts, in coordination with Qatar, to reach a ceasefire, ensure unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery, and secure the release of hostages and detainees. They emphased the importance of continued close coordination between Cairo and Riyadh on regional and international issues to promote stability and safeguard common Arab interests.
