European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Wednesday she met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ahead of the first-ever EU–Egypt Summit, stressing both sides' commitment to strengthening political and economic ties. "Glad to meet President Sisi ahead of the first ever EU–Egypt Summit. Together, we're advancing our Strategic Partnership for more investment & economic opportunities," Kallas said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. She added that the EU is ready to work with Egypt on key international issues, including Ukraine, the Middle East, the Sudan, and Libya, underscoring Cairo's growing diplomatic role in regional stability. The summit, taking place in Brussels, will focus on deepening political and economic cooperation between the EU and Egypt, with an aim to promote shared stability, peace, and prosperity. Leaders will also discuss broader global challenges, including multilateralism, trade, migration, and security.
