Egypt's Health Min., BioGeneric Pharma discuss boosting local vaccine production

Egypt's health minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met executives from BioGeneric Pharma (BGP) on Monday to discuss expanding cooperation in biopharmaceuticals, including vaccine production using mRNA technology, the health ministry said in a statement.
The talks reviewed the company's progress since opening its plant in 10th of Ramadan City, which houses an integrated facility for vaccines and biologics built to World Health Organisation standards.
Minister Abdel Ghaffar said the government aims to localise advanced drug manufacturing, cut reliance on imports, and achieve self-sufficiency in vaccines as part of Egypt Vision 2030.
BGP Managing Director Ashraf Rabie discussed mechanisms for registering medicines and vaccines after testing their safety and efficacy.
