Egypt's Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has met with Cuba's Ambassador to Egypt Alexander Moraga to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector, according to a Cabinet statement. The discussions addressed several areas of mutual interest, with a focus on the pharmaceutical industry in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting explored mechanisms to support joint pharmaceutical manufacturing, technology transfer, and expertise exchange. The two sides discussed cooperation in transferring technologies for drug production targeting diseases like diabetic foot and kidney disorders, in line with Egypt's commitment to medical innovation and boosting local production of vital medicines. Ongoing joint projects between Cuba and Egypt's Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA) were also reviewed. These include the transfer of manufacturing technologies for vaccines such as meningitis and the pentavalent vaccine, as well as expertise sharing in the biotechnology field.
