Egypt's Cabinet approved on Thursday the implementation of Article 8 of the amended Old Rent Law, paving the way for the creation of an electronic platform to manage housing allocations. The platform, scheduled to launch in October, will remain open for three months to receive applications. Priority will be given to low-income groups, families, and the elderly, according to the government's criteria. Applicants deemed eligible will be allocated units across several schemes, including rental housing, rent-to-own units, and mortgage-backed social housing.
