Egypt's Minister of Housing, Sherif Sherbini, held a meeting on Tuesday to review the latest developments in enforcing Law No. 164 of 2025, which addresses certain rental regulations and reorganises the relationship between landlords and tenants. The meeting focused on the draft Prime Ministerial Decree detailing the rules, conditions, and procedures for receiving applications for alternative housing units and prioritising their allocation, to be provided by state entities under Article 8 of the law. Officials also discussed mechanisms for submitting applications, either through a unified electronic platform or via post offices, and the role of a specialised unit within the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Support Fund in reviewing requests, alongside the criteria for prioritising allocations outlined in the draft decree.
