Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly announced that the government is working to reassure tenants impacted by the old rent law by offering housing alternatives suited to various income levels, according to a Cabinet Statement. The remarks came during a meeting held to review the proposed mechanisms for implementing the provisions of the new rental regulations. Madbouly directed the immediate launch of a housing initiative dedicated to eligible tenants, with units expected to be ready even before the seven-year transition period elapses. During the meeting, Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny revealed that the Social Housing Fund will launch a unified electronic platform within a month. The platform will receive lease applications over a three-month period, allowing authorities to assess the volume of demand and prepare a detailed list of applicants and the number of residential units required. El-Sherbiny added that all submitted documents will be reviewed for eligibility, including field and digital checks by relevant bodies to determine priority cases. He also presented a plan for using available land plots for social housing projects, alongside a list of proposed residential and non-residential units to be offered under the scheme.
