Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Sunday reviewed progress on the country's seawater desalination programme and discussed new project proposals, as the government pushes to expand water supply amid rising demand and a fixed Nile quota. The meeting, attended by Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny, senior government officials, ACWA Power Egypt CEO Hassan Amin, and Suez Canal Authority Chief Osama Rabie, focused on investment opportunities and project implementation timelines, the Cabinet said in a statement. Prime Minister Madbouly said Egypt is working to attract top international companies to localise desalination technologies, in line with its national water resources strategy. ACWA Power presented the results of negotiations with the Ministry of Housing on a potential new project, confirming the company's interest in expanding cooperation in Egypt's desalination sector.
