Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly has expressed interest in partnering with Acciona Energía, the world's largest green energy producer with a capacity of 15 GW across 52 countries, according to a Cabinet statement on Tuesday. During his meeting with Acciona Energía's Chief Financial and Sustainability Officer, José Entrecanales, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos 2025, Prime Minister Madbouly praised the company's expertise in seawater desalination. He highlighted Egypt's pressing need for collaboration in this area to address its growing water demands. Prime Minister Madbouly reaffirmed the government's commitment to overcoming cost barriers and expanding desalination projects. He also reiterated Egypt's dedication to increasing the share of renewable energy in its energy mix, aligning with national sustainability goals. Acciona Energía already has active projects in Egypt's renewable energy sector, and the prime minister emphasised the importance of strengthening this collaboration to support the country's green energy ambitions.
