Egypt has welcomed the roadmap announced by the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Libya for resolving the Libyan crisis, particularly the proposal to form an interim government to prepare for national elections in the country within a timeframe of 12 to 18 months. In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of adhering to this timeline as essential to ensuring the credibility of the political process and meeting the aspirations of the Libyan people for stability and development. It underlined that the electoral path should lead to concurrent presidential and parliamentary elections, alongside the unification of Libyan institutions under a new and unified government. Egypt also reaffirmed its full support for UN efforts to restore security and stability in Libya, while safeguarding the country's unity and sovereignty.
