Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty reaffirmed the country's commitment to assisting Libyan parties in reaching consensus and advancing a Libyan-led solution. He stressed the importance of respecting state institutions and holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. He also called for the withdrawal of all foreign forces, fighters, and mercenaries from Libya within a defined timeframe to safeguard the country's unity and stability. During a meeting in Cairo on Tuesday with the new UN Special Representative for Libya Hana Tetteh, FM Abdel Aty expressed Egypt's readiness to cooperate with her to ensure the success of her mission. He underscored the need for a sustainable resolution to the Libyan crisis, led and owned by Libyans, in line with relevant international resolutions.
