Egypt has condemned remarks in some Israeli media about what is called 'Greater Israel', and demanded clarifications. Cairo said the matter stirs instability, rejects the peace option in the region, insists on escalation, and runs counter to the aspirations of regional and international parties seeking peace and security for all peoples in the region. Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to establishing peace in the Middle East, stressing that peace can only be achieved by returning to negotiations and ending the war on Gaza. It said this should lead to a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions.
