Egypt's electricity grid recorded an all-time high load of 39,800 megawatts on Wednesday, up from 39,500 MW a day earlier, as a severe heatwave drives up energy consumption, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy said. The ministry said the national grid remained stable despite the surge in demand and confirmed continued supply across all voltage levels. It added that emergency measures had been enacted to cope with the extreme weather, including boosting generation, transmission, and distribution readiness. Additional support and maintenance crews have been deployed, along with expanded inspection teams and occupational safety staff. Customer service centres have extended working hours and reinforced complaint handling systems to ensure timely responses and maintain service quality, the ministry said.
