Egypt's Healthcare Authority (EHA) Chairman Ahmed El-Sobky held a meeting to review medical training and research and development across the authority's health facilities in the governorates covered by the Universal Health Insurance System, according to a Cabinet statement. Over 21,000 medical training sessions were conducted in primary care facilities, with 16,000 sessions in medical complexes and hospitals. Additionally, 60 external training programmes were also held in collaboration with various partners. El-Sobky also noted an increase in clinical protocols from 491 to 592, with over 80 per cent adherence. He highlighted the implementation of 31 training programmes on clinical guidelines in each governorate, involving more than 3,500 participants. He also stressed the importance of accrediting all departments of health facilities as Egyptian board training centres, reporting that 284 departments, 369 trainers, and 1,047 trainees have been certified so far. The statement added that more than EGP5.5 million was allocated to establish the Authority's Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS and ACLS) Training Centre, which trained 13,000 participants at the basic level and 600 at the advanced level. El-Sobky directed the creation of a training Log Book for staff to track their Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) and implemented quarterly compliance reports to ensure consistent training practices across all regions. In a bid to maximise resources and strengthen staff competencies, he also instructed the preparation of a comprehensive plan to accredit health facility departments as Arab board training centres, enhancing the authority's regional training role.
