Egypt's Food Export Council (FEC) has launched Tuesday a free online platform aimed at helping local food producers gauge their readiness to enter foreign markets, part of a broader push to boost the sector's export performance. The Export Readiness Test (ERT) Platform offers member companies a 20-question self-assessment on operations, staffing, marketing, financing and compliance with food safety standards. Firms receive insights on strengths and weaknesses, along with a tailored roadmap to improve competitiveness abroad. The platform is a diagnostic tool that analyses a company's operations, including legal status, business activity, size, product focus, staffing, registration with the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), and export status. Data submitted is kept confidential and used only for statistical purposes, the council said. Registration takes less than 20 minutes. The initiative targets small and medium-sized exporters as Egypt seeks to expand its footprint in global food markets and increase the sector's contribution to economic growth.
