Egypt's food exports are on track to hit $10 billion by 2030, up from $6.1 billion in 2024, driven by a nationwide digital transformation in food safety systems, said Mahmoud Bazzan, chairman of the Food Export Council (FEC). Speaking at the second edition of the Egyptian Global Food Safety Symposium (EGFoSS 2025), Bazzan described food safety as a key driver of export growth, rather than just a compliance requirement. He noted that Egypt's food exports grew by 74 per cent between 2020 and 2024, with digital tools now essential for gaining global trust and market competitiveness, according to the FEC's announcement.
