Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib held discussions with the CEO of Japan's Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transport & Urban Development (JOIN) during his visit to Tokyo, an official statement has said. Talks centred on prospective partnerships in logistics, port development, transport, and smart urban zones within Egypt, particularly in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and major cities, the statement added. El-Khatib and the JOIN leadership also explored partnership opportunities with Egypt's sovereign wealth fund to support infrastructure projects both domestically and across Africa, as stated in the release. JOIN, a Japanese government-backed entity, plays a key role in supporting Japanese private sector firms to co-invest in overseas infrastructure projects. It focuses on smart cities, public transport systems, industrial zones, and sustainable urban mobility solutions. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English. Subediting: M. S. Salama
