Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty has welcomed the European Union's commitment to strengthening cooperation with countries of the Southern Mediterranean, reaffirming Egypt's dedication to enhancing its strategic ties with the EU across various sectors. Speaking on Monday at the fifth ministerial meeting of EU and Southern Neighbourhood foreign ministers, held to discuss the launch of the EU Mediterranean Pact, Abdel-Aty highlighted the need to bolster economic, trade, investment, and cultural relations, as well as support human development. He stressed the importance of securing new sources of development financing and enhancing cooperation in manufacturing, energy, technology transfer, food and water security, IT, and artificial intelligence. The minister also underlined the significance of ensuring shared ownership of the partnership to benefit all parties involved. Abdel-Aty noted Egypt's priority in promoting regional security and stability through peaceful conflict resolution in line with international law and UN resolutions. He reiterated Egypt's firm support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
