Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty on Wednesday called for strengthening the Africa-EU partnership in the face of unprecedented regional and international challenges. Speaking at the Africa-EU ministerial meeting in Brussels, he urged closer cooperation to end conflicts, combat terrorism, address forced migration, and protect maritime security. Abdel-Aty praised the EU's continued support for African institutions in addressing threats to the continent. He reaffirmed Egypt's belief in a comprehensive approach to sustainable peace, grounded in supporting national institutions and enhancing state capacity. He highlighted Egypt's role in post-conflict reconstruction, including its efforts with the African Union Commission to review and update relevant policies, and the establishment of the AU's Centre for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development in Cairo. He called on the EU to support this initiative. The minister also stressed the importance of supporting Somalia's stability and prosperity, calling for sustainable funding for the AU Transition Mission in Somalia.
