Egypt and the Comoros are enhancing coordination in regional and international forums, with a focus on security, counterterrorism, anti-extremism, and sustainable development in line with the African Union's Agenda 2063. The commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting between Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdel Aty, and his Comorian counterpart, Mohamed Mbaye, on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the African Union Executive Council meetings in Addis Ababa. The two ministers discussed mechanisms to bolster cooperation within the frameworks of the African Union, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations (UN). They agreed to maintain consultations on shared priorities to promote stability and economic integration in Africa. Minister Abdel Aty also reiterated Egypt's commitment to supporting the Comoros across various sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, and energy. He stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation to build on the progress achieved in these fields. Economic relations featured prominently in the talks, with a focus on increasing Egyptian investments in the Comoros. Minister Abdel Aty highlighted Egypt's interest in encouraging its companies to invest in infrastructure and renewable energy projects. The minister also reaffirmed Egypt's readiness to support Comorian development efforts through expertise-sharing, capacity-building programmes, and training initiatives, including those offered by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) and scholarships from Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Higher Education. The meeting underscored Egypt's ongoing efforts to strengthen its ties with African nations through strategic partnerships that promote economic growth and sustainable development.
