Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi chaired – via video conference – the 42nd session of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Steering Committee (SC) on Monday, focusing on addressing the continent's most pressing development issues. The meeting brought together African heads of state and government to discuss the implementation of Agenda 2063 and the creation of an African Development Fund. Central to the discussions was the second ten-year plan for Agenda 2063, aimed at overcoming challenges such as poverty, unemployment, food and water insecurity, and energy shortages. The feasibility study for establishing a dedicated African Development Fund was also reviewed, with a focus on enhancing infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation for Africa's youth. Additional topics included boosting intra-African trade, addressing climate change, and exploring opportunities for increased regional cooperation to tackle these shared obstacles. The meeting reinforced the commitment to joint efforts in overcoming the continent's development challenges. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
