Egyptian Customs Authority head Ahmed Amawi has called for the development of a unified Arab strategy for customs to enhance economic integration and facilitate intra-Arab trade, an official statement said. Amawi emphasised the importance of aligning customs procedures and enhancing the exchange of expertise, experiences, and data among Arab states within the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, during a meeting of Arab customs directors in Cairo. He noted that the strategy aims to strengthen technical capabilities, unify legislation, systems, regulations, and customs terminology across the region, and overcome challenges through more practical and flexible solutions. This, he added, would promote a more competitive economic environment by ensuring streamlined and efficient customs services that support smoother trade flows, according to the announcement.
