Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has approved the funding agreement for the European Union Green Facility Programme between the European Union and Egypt, according to the official gazette published Thursday. The agreement includes a €7 million grant from the EU. The Egyptian House of Representatives had previously approved the agreement in April 2025. The programme aims to support Egypt's green transition, particularly in the energy and water sectors, while also addressing climate and environmental challenges. Parliament noted that the agreement will contribute to Egypt's shift towards a green economy, including climate-related actions and environmental sustainability. The grant, provided under the EU's Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI), is intended to support a fair, resilient, and sustainable transformation in key sectors.
