Just unveiled is a new limited edition piece, the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup 2012 Tradition watch. The piece not only celebrates the partnership of Audemars Piguet with one of the most prestigious events in Hong Kong's horseracing calendar, but also pays tribute to a historical cushion-shaped pocket watch created by the Le Brassus Manufacture in 1923. A cushion-case is a superbly curvaceous feature in a wristwatch, especially when paired with a pristine, uncluttered dial. This one has a white lacquered finish and is admirably unadorned, save for the traditional applied numerals, the charming open-worked hands and those delightful minute marker dots. All the elements – case, numerals and hands are crafted from 18 carat pink gold for added elegance – as if it were needed ... no wonder Audemars Piguet call their Classic Collection “Timeless". The shapely case measures 43mm across and is suitably slender with a fine tucked-in crown. Inside is Audemars Piguet's in-house Calibre 2120 automatic movement with a special open worked rotor featuring a profile of a racehorse.
