Egypt plans to introduce a new law regulating foreign labour in the country starting in September, Labour Minister Mohamed Gobran said on Tuesday. The legislation will establish a framework for issuing work permits and set controls on the employment of foreign workers, bringing Egypt in line with international standards, Minister Gebran said during a business breakfast hosted by the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA). The new law aims to streamline procedures, boost transparency, and better integrate foreign labour into the local economy, as Egypt seeks to modernise its labour market and attract more investment.
