Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty affirmed Egypt's keenness to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation with the United States, describing it as a cornerstone of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
During a meeting on Tuesday evening with a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, led by its President Tarek Tawfik, Abdel-Aty praised the chamber's active role in enhancing economic and investment relations.
The minister pointed to recent encouraging developments, including the approval of safety specifications for US-made vehicles following lengthy negotiations, and progress towards signing a mutual assistance agreement on customs matters between the US and Egypt's Customs Authority.
Abdel-Aty also outlined Egypt's recent reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and business environment, and addressing challenges facing investors. He reaffirmed that attracting foreign direct investment remains a top priority for the Egyptian government.
The meeting also covered Egypt's regional policy, particularly its efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and support the Arab plan for reconstruction.
Discussions included preparations for the upcoming "Egypt Economic Future Forum" to be hosted in Cairo this May. The forum, organised in coordination with the American Chamber of Commerce in Washington, will bring together leading US and Egyptian companies to explore investment opportunities and deepen economic partnership between the two nations.
