Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty met on Wednesday in Cairo with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski to discuss a range of regional and international developments, with a focus on the situation in Gaza. Abdel-Aty reviewed Egypt's position on the developments in Gaza Strip and emphasised the priority of resuming the ceasefire. He also outlined the elements of the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan for Gaza, and praised Poland's firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians. The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Syria, Sudan, Libya, the security of Red Sea navigation, and the war in Ukraine. Abdel-Aty expressed appreciation for the growing ties between Egypt and Poland, highlighting the significance of Sikorski's visit in light of Poland's current presidency of the European Union. He stressed Egypt's keenness to deepen coordination and build on the momentum generated by the first session of the Egypt-Poland Joint Economic Committee held in December 2024. He also welcomed enhanced trade and investment ties, praising the recent increase in Polish tourism to Egypt. Abdel-Aty commended Poland's support for Egypt-related files within the EU and expressed hope for continued backing, especially in view of Egypt's economic challenges and its hosting of large numbers of refugees and migrants. He welcomed the European Parliament's vote on April 1, 2025, to approve the €4 billion second tranche of EU financial support to Egypt. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
