Egypt's Suez Canal Authority (SCA) is in talks with Sudan's Sea Ports Corp. (SPC) to expand cooperation on port development, dredging, and technical training, as Cairo seeks to extend its maritime expertise across the region. SCA Chairman Osama Rabie met with SPC Director-General Gilani Mohamed Gilani, in Cairo to discuss potential joint projects and knowledge exchange in logistics and port management, the authority said in a statement on Wednesday. Rabie said the Suez Canal Authority is ready to offer technical assistance and training to help modernise Sudan's ports, citing "deep historical and economic ties" between the two countries. The SCA operates six subsidiaries and three shipyards that handle shipbuilding, repair, and logistics services, he added. The SCA has recently expanded its regional footprint, contributing to the reopening of Libya's Port of Sirte after 14 years of closure and preparing design and operational studies for Saudi Arabia's Saudi Arabia's newest industrial port, Port of Ras Al Khair. Sea Ports Corp. is seeking to boost efficiency at its facilities through dredging and workforce training. Gilani said the partnership aims to leverage Egypt's technical expertise to strengthen Sudan's maritime infrastructure and attract future investment. Both sides agreed to form a joint working group to define areas of cooperation and move toward implementation. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
