A money-laundering unit report by the central bank revealed surprising issues of international regulation and money laundering. The accused are leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), as the report received on behalf of public funds prosecution showed that other non-seniors who are under the organization had received funds from foreign sources under fictitious names. The report said that a member of the organization, Osama Mohammed Suleiman, received 2.7 million euro, from a company in Lebanon owned by a businessman belonging to the MB. Security services have arrested Solomon inside his company which is located in downtown Cairo. The report, which is17 pages long, added that 3 other members belonging to the group - including two leaders - received funds from outside the country, and there was no access to the origin of the funds transferred, whilst the report speculates it might be European countries.
Security sources said that the money revealed by the report is in excess of 12 million euro. The prosecution asked the officials at the money laundering unit of the central bank to determine the source of funds, time and people who received it through banking systems and the dates of exchange.
The source - who asked not to be named – said that on the basis of that report, expectations are that two other members in leadership positions will be arrested within the MB on charges of receiving funds from abroad, if the crime is proven.
