Yesterday, Dubai court of misdemeanor passed a verdict sentencing the Egyptian billionaire, Nabil Al-Bushi three years in the case No. 2645. Al-Bushi was accused of issuing a $6,125,000 cheque without provision to the Egyptian businessman Ibrahim Wajdi Karar. The civil suit submitted by the second party was referred to the concerned civil court. Court consultation in this case was started last February after Karar had submitted a notification to Dubai police accusing Al-Bushi of issuing a cheque without provision. Consequently Dubai prosecution office supervised the investigations. When interrogated, the victim confirmed that he received the cheque from the accused at the later's house in Dubai in December 2007. He added that the cheque amount is the income of investing his monies with the indictee. On the other hand, Al-Bushi admitted, during the interrogations, that he handed the cheque to the victim in Egypt. Meanwhile, chancellor 'Isam Al-Hmaydan, Attorney General for Dubai emirate, reconfirmed that they will not deport Al-Bushi to the Egyptian authorities before ending his cases in the United Arab Emirates, either by settlement, cession or tribunal. In addition he referred that, in case of indictment, Al-Bushi shall serve the adjudicated sentence in Dubai before being deported to Egypt. Earlier, the Dubai attorney general office received a request from the Egyptian authority entailing deporting Al-Bushi to be tried before the Egyptian judiciary.
