A military court in Egypt sentenced Thursday 35 defendants to seven years and another 124 to 10 years in absentia over atorming and torching a church in Minya, southern Cairo. The defendants torched the church, based in Der Mawas, Minya, following the dispersal of Rabia and Al-Nahda sit-ins, August, 2013. They were referred to military courts in Feb. 2015. The defendants faced charges of spreading violence and chaos, assaulting public and private properties and protesting without permission.
