Cairo Criminal Court will resume Saturday trial of 213 defendants allegedly affiliated with Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis group over terror-related charges, Al-Bawaba News reported. The defendants face charges of committing 54 terror-related crimes, including attempting to kill former Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim, and bombing several security headquarters across Egypt. The Sinai-based group has carried out deadly attacks against police and army personnel since the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013. It had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) in 2014.
