Egypt resumes trial of IS-affiliates in Sinai

The Cairo Criminal Court tries Tuesday 213 defendants allegedly affiliated with Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis group over terror charges, Al-Bawaba News reported.
The defendants face charges of committing 54 terror-related crimes, including attempting to kill former Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim, and bombing several security headquarters across the nation.
The Sinai-based group had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) in 2014, and carried out deadly attacks against police and army personnel.
