Egypt and Uganda signed several memoranda of understanding on Tuesday to boost cooperation in water resources, agriculture, investment, and diplomatic training, the Egyptian presidency said. The agreements, signed during Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's visit to Cairo, also include mutual visa exemptions for holders of official passports and Egyptian support for establishing a Ugandan diplomatic institute. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said the deals reflected the "close relations and common interests" between the two countries and expressed hope the visit would mark "a new starting point toward a genuine partnership." The two leaders also announced a $6 million, five-year agreement on integrated water resources management to protect the Nile's environment and develop its resources.
