Egyptian court tries IS militants

Cairo Criminal Court tries Tuesday 213 defendants alleged to be members of Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis over terror attacks, Al Bawaba News reported.
Defendants are accused committing 54 terror-related crimes, including attempting to kill former Interior Minister, Mohamed Ibrahim, and bombing security headquarters across the nation.
The Sinai-based group had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) late past year, and leads deadly attacks against police and army personnel.
