HUSSEIN Massoud, chairman & CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company, began his work on 1 September 2009. Before that he was vice chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company since April 2008. He was a member of many strategic committees which played a key role in enhancing EgyptAir corporate strategy, strengthening the capacity of EgyptAir. Massoud has broad experience in the aviation industry. He was on the board of directors and then chairman of Smart Aviation which witnessed remarkable progress under his leadership. At the same time he was the CEO of Mitrage company (Dassault Aviation). Massoud also played an active role in many governmental and nongovernmental associations including CanadaEgypt Business Council, Club d'Affaires Franco Egyptien, and Cairo Engineering Syndicate. He is the hairman of Elite Aviation Engineers Association. Massoud spent the first 22 years of his career in the Egyptian Air Force during which he held many leading positions including 3 years in the Egyptian Embassy in Paris. Massoud got his BS in Aviation and Military Sciences (1970), graduated from AUC with a Diploma in Material Engineering (1988) and an MS (1991), and in 2006, he earned his Masters of Business Administration from ESC Rennes University, France. He was honoured with medals such as the Medal of Long Service First Class from the Armed Forces, Medal of Merit from the French Government Officer Degree, and Medal of Outstanding Duty First Class in the 1973 war. He was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1948. He speaks English and French in addition to Arabic. He is married and has a son and three daughters. He enjoys reading, swimming and playing squash.
