CAIRO - Giovanni Bisignani, IATA's Director General and CEO, has announced that Hussein Massoud, Chairman of Egypt's national carrier EgyptAir, will serve as a member of the IATA Strategies and Policies Committee for a three-year term of office. The committee's main task is to discuss strategies and polices that can be adopted to serve the air transportation industry worldwide. The appointment came after Massoud's re-election for a second term as a member of the board of governors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). His appointment to the committee announced at the 66th IATA annual general meeting and World Air Transport Summit held in Berlin. ”I seize the opportunity to welcome you to the committee and to thank you and EgyptAir, with our deep appreciation for the role played by EgyptAir in solving the challenges the airline industry is facing,” wrote Mr. Bisiganni recently in an official letter to Egypt's national carrier EgyptAir. Mr. Massoud noted that the re-election placed a lot of responsibility on EgyptAir for framing policies and strategies that could help in serving the air transportation industry and in solving challenges that airlines are facing now and in the future. He added that Egypt's civil aviation, under the leadership of Egypt's Ministers of Civil Aviation Ahmed Shafiq, deserves the appreciation of international organisations and associations for all its efforts and achievements in the field over the years.
