CAIRO - EgyptAir Ground Services has celebrated providing its services to the UAE airline Ras al-Kheima in Cairo. The arrival of the first flight of the Ras al-Kheima airline in Cairo was celebrated as the route between Ras al-Kheima and Cairo will be operated on a regular basis. The gala was attended by Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Hussein Massoud; Hassan Rashed, the Chairman of Cairo Airport company, and Abdel Hamid Eid, the Chairman of EgyptAir Ground Services. Sheikh Salem Ibn Sultan al-Kasimi, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Ras al-Kheima , Omar el-Haggana; the Chairman of Ras al-Khemia Airlines and senior officials from both companies attended too representing the United Arab Emirates. During the gala, Hussein Massoud expressed in an address his happiness and best wishes for the Ras al-Kheima carrier, hoping for more co-operations between the two companies, which he said would boost the Egyptian- EAU ties. "EgyptAir has added a new and a sincere customer to its clients, which EgyptAir Ground Services is honoured to serve internationally, locally and regionally," Massoud added. For his part, Sheikh Salem Ibn Sultan said that the relation between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates were close and that he was happy for co-operation with EgyptAir Ground Services, being a leading company in this domain. "I am so pleased for operating the new route between Ras al-Kheima and Cairo. We promise our dearest customers to offer all facilities, that could enhance more airlines and widen air traffic between Cairo and other world capitals," said Hassan Rashed, the Chairman of the Cairo Airport Company. Meanwhile, Abdel Hamid Eid, the Chairman of EgyptAir Ground Services expressed satisfaction at this step and hoped for more co-operation with other international airlines. The Ras el-Kheima Airline operates three flights a week to Cairo.
EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering has gained a renewal of the EU Certificate EASA 145 without any observations, according to Abdel Aziz Fadel, the Chairman of the company. He added that a team from the French Civil Aviation Authority had been assigned to check, review and renew the certificate. "The French Civil Aviation Authority lauded the development and progress attained by EgyptAir," he said.
Electric train checked
An ad-hoc technical committee has embarked on checking the three coaches of an electric train planned to go operational to link the three terminals of the Cairo International Airport, to assess the damage it may have suffered due to bad weather, while it was aboard the Italian ship Joly, according to Hassan Rashed, the Chairman of the Cairo International Airport Company. "In case any parts were found to be damaged, they would be shipped back to its manufacturing company for replacement," he added.
Terminal 2 expansion in March
Egypt's Ministry of Civil Aviation will start next March the expansion and renovation process to Terminal 2 at the Cairo International Airport, which will cost around LE400 million, to cope with the increasing passenger traffic. Ibrahim Manna, the Chairman of Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, said that during the coming few weeks expansion works would be launched so that the terminal would accommodate 7.5 million passengers annually instead of three million and would be connected with Terminal 3.
