European teams have stepped up their interest in signing Ivorian striker Gervinho next summer after his impressive performance with French side Lille this season. The Ivory Coast star scored 12 league goals helping Lille to topple the Ligue 1 table with 55 points. According to skysports.com, English premier League outfit Newcastle and Spain La Liga side Atletico Madrid are preparing bids to lure the in-form striker who will turn 24-year-old next May. Gervinho welcomed the opportunity of playing in Spain or England, but insists he will not start any negotiations before the end of the present season. "It would be an advantage to play in Spain or England, as they are the best leagues in the world, but I have a contract with Lille until 2012,” he told skysports.com. The Ivorian striker was voted man of the match for his participation in the opening game for Ivory Coast against Portugal in the 2010 World Cup.
