Ivorian Gervinho rejects Liverpool advance Ivory Coast and Lille striker Gervinho declined offers from Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla for a UEFA Champions League appearance
In-form Ivorian striker Gervinho has put the UEFA Champions League atop of his priorities, refuting lucrative offers from English Premier League and Spain La Liga sides. "At the end of the season, me and my advisors will speak to Lille officials and see what to do, but if I am leaving a club that will play in the Champions League I will only go to one that is in the Champions League,” Gervinho was quoted as saying on skysports.com. "It's the best competition and I want to be a part of that set-up every year," he added. The 23-year old international striker is more than ever close to his target as Lille are on top of the Ligue 1 table with 63 points and five matches left to play. Gervinho joined Lille in 2009 for a three-year contract and has hit stardom this season scoring 14 goals in 29 league appearances.
