Gervinho says he is no stranger to Arsenal's football
Arsenal's new Ivorian signing Gervinho says he should gel into the team quickly because he was educated 'the Arsenal way'
Published in Ahram Online on 19 - 07 - 2011

Ivory Coast forward Gervinho said on Tuesday he is accustomed to the attractive brand of football Arsenal usually display after completing a move to the English Premier League side.
The 24-year-old, who joined Arsenal after helping French side Lille win the Ligue1 title last season, is the latest Ivorian to be nurtured in the ASEC academy in Abidjan before eventually moving to the Gunners.
He followed in the footsteps of fellow Ivorians Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue, who enjoyed considerable success with Arsenal.
“Arsenal is an attractive club to me because when I was a kid at the ASEC academy in Abidjan, we were educated to play football the way Arsenal plays,” the speedy forward told the club's official website.
“We were lucky to have a coach at the time who had that philosophy. So we tried to play like Arsenal and, since then, I have always wanted to be an Arsenal player. And now I am, so I am delighted.”
Gervinho also said he was delighted to play under the guidance of Arsenal's French coach Arsene Wenger, who is renowned for his ability to spot talents and lure them to London.
"I am very happy to be able to work with Arsene Wenger. I came here because I believe that he can make me improve more,” he added.
“In Lille, I worked very well with the manager over there [Rudy Garcia] and I improved with him but I think that with Arsene Wenger I will reach another level in my career.”
