Art Alert: Shaware'na to sing in Beit Al-Raseef Egyptian band Shaware'na deliver their street-inspired songs in Maadi's Beit Al-Raseef on Thursday 26 September
Shaware'na, an independent Egyptian band founded in Alexandria in 2009, is scheduled to perform on Thursday 26 September in Beit Al-Raseef. Delivering songs inspired by the band members' experiences on the streets of Egypt and the people's resonances on said streets, Shaware'na staged numerous shows in Cairene and Alexandrian venues since their inception. Shaware'na began as an innovative musical project where only three band members -- relying solely on vocals, bodily and facial expressions, as well as methods similar to beat-boxing -- performed without musical instruments. Encouraged by the loyal fan-base they successfully nurtured, the band later decided to develop their songs by adding musical arrangements, mostly relying on a guitar, bass, keyboards and drums. The band was recently awarded a grant funding the production of their first album, which they are currently engaged in. Programme: Thursday 26 September at 7pm Beit Al-Raseef, Villa 9, 151 Street, off Hurreya Square, Maadi, Cairo http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/81837.aspx
