Acoustic performances at Bikya Maadi, 7.30 pm
Musicians Shadi Ahmed and Hassan Ramzy will play solo acoustic songs at Bikya Maadi, performing old favourites in a mix of folk-rock and blues. According to Bikya's Facebook announcement, the guitarists will perform songs "suitable to a variety of moods and tastes."

Retune Festival in El-Geneina Theatre, 8pm
Azhar Park's theatre, run by Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafi, will host the first of a series of events under 'Retune,' a new music project that offers a platform for electronic, hip-hop, and Mahraganat musicians in collaboration with 100Copies Music Space. The night will feature performances by MC Amin, a young rapper from Mansoura, Kaboos Nation and Tahoon, rappers from Cairo, and Celler Door, an electronic musician. Telepoetic Band and First Egyptian Silent Film screening in Janaklees, 8pm
A screening of Egypt's first silent film, ‘Barsoom Looking for a Job' (1923, Mohamed Bayoumi) will be followed by a performance by Telepoetic Band. Formed in 2009, Telepoetic Band mixes acoustic and electronic sounds and has been performing since their debut concert at the 100Copies Electronic Music Festival. They have since participated in festivals in Alexandria, Cairo and abroad, and they also host their own concerts. Watch one of Telepoetic's songs here.

Urban Visions: Three emerging artists at GIZ
The Mashrabia Gallery of Contemporary Art, in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), present 'Urban Visions,' an exhibition featuring three emerging Egyptian artists: Ahmed Sabry, Ali Abdel Mohsen and Ramy Dozy. Selection of Tropfest Arabia Films in Darb1718, 7.30pm
Darb1718's Cinema Elfourn programme will screen selections from Tropfest Arabia's Short Film Festival (a spin-off of Australia's iconic Tropfest). The films were selected from the Festival's 2011 and 2012 winners and finalists, and include Undamageable (5:50), Two, Six (5:50), Bite of Bread (7:16), Two (3:53), Abjad (7:16), Who Am I? (7:04), Flocks of Stars (5:05), The Smile (6:26), They Say (5:34), At First Sight (4:40), A Star (2:25), and No Signal (6:34).

Musicals and Neapolitan songs at the Cairo Opera House, 8pm
The Cairo Opera Orchestra and the Cairo Opera Company, under the conduction of Tarek Mahran, will give a gala concert featuring numbers from well-known musicals and famous Neapolitan songs. The soloists of the evening will be Dalia Farouk, Jacqueline Rafik, Rasha Talaat, Hala El Shaboury, Jolie Faizy, Laila Ebrahim, Noresta El-Marghani, Tamer Tawfik, Walid Korayem and Reda El-Wakil. The evening's director is Hazem Tayel.

Storm Band in El-Geneina Theatre, 8pm
Hailing from Alexandria, Storm Band was founded in 2006. Composed of a large number of musicians, the band resembles a modern-day orchestra and performs contemporary oriental music and rearrangements of classics. Watch one of their videos here. See El-Geneina Theatre's full summer programme here.

Nagham Masry at El-Sawy Culturewheel, 8pm
Nagham Masry plays contemporary music derived from, and inspired by, Egyptian cultural and political life. Their lyrics are based on poems by Egyptian vernacular poets such as Salah Jahine and Ahmed Fouad Negm.

Music Therapy at Beit El-Raseef, 6pm

Megawra, a space dedicated to architecture and urban planning, will host ‘Save Alex,' a grassroots movement working to bring to a halt to the ongoing demolition of old, iconic buildings in Alexandria.

Wust El-Balad band in El-Geneina Theatre, 8pm
Wust El-Balad is considered one of the most popular bands in the Egyptian contemporary music scene. Formerly known as The Gray Rat Band, Wust El-Balad changed its name after a suggestion from Sameh El-Azab and is famous for hits such as 'Antika' and 'Am Mina'. Cairo Symphony Orchestra performs works of French composers, 8pm
The Cairo Symphony Orchestra, under the conduction of Czech Maestro Jiri Petrdlik, will give its regular Saturday concert on 15 June. The programme of the evening will feature the works of a number of French artists, including Arthur Honegger's Pacific 231, Claude Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun), Paul Dukas' L'apprenti sorcier (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) and Hector Berlioz's Harold in Italy – Symphony with Solo Viola, Op. 16. The soloist of the evening will be Czech violenist Zuzana Perinova. Read morehere.

20 Years of Evelyn Ashamallah at 6 Contemporary Arts
6 Contemporary Arts zooms in on the work of Egyptian artist Evelyn Ashamallah (b. 1948) in their latest exhibition. Ashamallah is a founding member of the Artist's Syndicate and juried the Youth Salon from 1996 to 2000. The show features artworks selected from the past 20 years of the artist's career. Some paintings are evocative of Ashamallah's childhood in Dessouk, Kafr El Sheikh; others were inspired by celebratory religious festivals (such as Al-Moulid). "Distorted figures, fed with child-like colors, her artistic freedom grasps the innocence of a child with the satire of an adult," reads the curatorial statement. Cinematography Seminar at the Russian Culture Center, Alexandria, 7pm
Indiegy Arts Foundation, which supports independent arts, will host a seminar on digital cinematography covering aesthetics and technique. The seminar will also discuss using the camera, lighting, and production. Two works by Ehab Hegzazi will be screened: ‘The Amateur and The Professional' and ‘The Way Back'.

Egoz rock band at El-Sawy Culturewheel, 8pm
In celebration of their debut album "Temple of Small Things," the Cairo-based Rock/New Wave band Egoz will perform Sunday, 16 June, at El-Sawy Culturewheel. Established in 1998 by Hany Mustafa, Karim Safwat, and Mustafa Farid, the band has participated in major musical events such as S.O.S, in addition to performances at the Cairo Jazz Club, Bikya Maadi, and the British Council. Egoz draws influence from a wide range of music genres, including classic and progressive rock and New Wave fused with oriental elements.

'Downtown': Group exhibition at Gallery Misr
Thirteen young artists present their artwork in an exhibition entitled 'Downtown,' which runs at Gallery Misr until 18 July.
