153 released on bail over Cairo Republican Guard clashes
Over 150 people released on bail as part of ongoing investigations into clashes at the Republican Guard headquarters in Cairo on 8 July

One hundred and fifty-three people were released on bail on Sunday after being arrested in the ongoing investigations into last week's Republican Guard clashes which left at least 51 people dead and over 460 injured.
Prosecutors had on 10 July ordered the release on bail of 446 of 652 detained suspects in the investigation.
The remaining 206 people were detained for 15 days pending investigation. According to Ahram Arabic-language news website, the 206 appealed the decision and on Sunday 153 were released.
The defendants' lawyer reportedly said that the decision to arrest them was "haphazard" and did not rely on empirical evidence implicating them.
A team of 60 investigators from the prosecution, supervised by Judge Mostafa Khater, East Cairo's prosecutor-general, are looking into the clashes.
Suspects are currently facing charges of manslaughter, voluntary manslaughter, thuggery, possession of unlicensed firearms, illegal possession of ammunition and weapons, and undermining general security with the intention to terrorise.
Immediately following the clashes on Monday, interim President Adly Mansour ordered an investigation into the events.
Following a five-day Muslim Brotherhood-led sit-in at the Republican Guard headquarters, hundreds of civilians were injured by the Egyptian army on the morning of 8 July, with 51 fatalities. One police officer was also killed, while 42 soldiers were reported injured. A military spokesperson accused the Brotherhood supporters of inciting the violence by attacking the building, while Brotherhood leaders claimed that the demonstrators were attacked without provocation.
