Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah cancelled the decision he made on Wednesday to relocate Khater to Beni Suef, state-owned MENA reported. Abdallah's initial decision came after prosecution in East Cairo released 137 detainees who had been arrested during the clashes at the presidential palace in Cairo last Wednesday. The prosecution had claimed that there was insufficient evidence against the 137 detainees to press charges, and they were therefore released. It kept twelve of those arrested on Wednesday night, as they were arrested in possession of weapons including guns, knives and Molotov cocktails. After the announcement of his relocation to Beni Suef, Khater had said he would leave his post and return to the bench and practice as a judge. Khater has been involved in a number of high profile cases in the past, including investigations examining the killing of protesters during last year's revolution.
