Hull City monitor Egypt's Gedo, await Elmohamady reply The Tigers have reached agreement with Sunderland to sign Elmohamady, but no decision yet for his countrymen Gedo and Fathi
Hull City are monitoring the progress of Egypt's injured forward Gedo, while there has not yet been a concrete decision regarding signing him or his Ahly teammate Ahmed Fathi. Gedo made an instant impact after joining Hull on a six-month loan deal in January, scoring five Championship (second division) goals in 12 appearances to play a key role in helping the Tigers seal Premier League promotion. The 28-year-old striker will be sidelined for up to three months after undergoing foot surgery earlier this month. "Gedo had foot surgery on his troublesome bone so in his case you'd wait to see how he performed in his rehabilitation before you made any decisions," City's managing director Nick Thompson was quoted as saying by Hull's Daily Mail on Wednesday. Egypt's versatile midfielder Fathi has also contributed to Hull's promotion despite only making some small appearances. "I know [Hull coach] Steve Bruce also liked Fathi and thought he was a great addition, but there's not been a definitive yes or no at this stage," added Thompson. Sunderland agree to sell Elmohamady At the same time, Hull City are close to signing a permanent deal with Egypt winger Ahmed Elmohamady from his club Sunderland. The 25-year-old winger joined the Tigers on a season-long loan from Premier League side Sunderland last summer. The Egyptian star was named as Hull City's Player of the Year for 2012/13 after producing a superb performance this term, scoring three goals and creating several others. "We're in the process of negotiating a deal," explained Thompson. "We know where we stand with Sunderland on the price and now it's a case of agreeing a deal with the player and his agent," he added. Bruce was also the coach who initially brought Gedo to Sunderland in the summer of 2010.
